National Multi-Housing Council Want's More Fire Sprinklers
We could use another partner in our quest to sprinkler the world. Here's a
powerful friend who was originally thought of as a foe to sprinklers. The
National Multi- Housing Council and the National Apartment Association would
like to install more fire sprinklers in their buildings but they can't support
it without some trade-offs. Jeff Shapiro did a excellent program for our
members explaining the history and future of the fire sprinkler/building code
relationship in multi-housing. To download his Power Point presentation Click Here
Firefighters’ Attitudes Toward Fire Prevention Activities
BY: Marilyn Arnlund, Maple Grove Fire Prevention Bureau, Maple Grove, Minnesota
The problem was a disproportionate ratio between the number of firefighters
who participated in fire prevention activities (FPAct) and the pace of the
exploding population.
The purpose was to research and measure if negative attitudes contributed to
the limited number of firefighters’ participation in FPAct.
Descriptive research was conducted to answer four questions:
What kind of attitudes do paid-on-call
firefighters have towards FPAct?
When does this attitude about fire
prevention emerge?
Who or what influences firefighters’
attitudes towards fire prevention?
How can the fire service get firefighters more involved in FPAct? To download the entire research paper in Microsoft Word format click here.
